The "add (correctly) 8-10 jet sizes for no power valve" refers to the situation where a PV is removed from a carb calibrated to use one and replaced with a PV plug. if you go more than a 68 in there it's very likely that you are trying to fix something else by band-aiding fat jets. That 600CFM probably uses 66 front jets, and they're rich to begin with. Wow, so cruising a 383 on the freeway at 1/8 throttle "overstresses" a 600CFM carb? You guys ever think about this stuff before you post it? I was also hoping for some semblence of gas mileage by using the 600 carb, at least until I replace the 3.70 gears. I do have an old 3310 on the shelf, I may give it a shot for grins, but if it leaks gas, I probably won't go through it at this time. It only had manifold vacuum the port vacuum was plugged.Ī 750 is probably a better match for the engine, but I'm not sure how much difference it would make, because we are restricted with both a short air filter, and a relatively restrictive GM #461 intake. That was on a Carb Shop Stage #3 3310 carb. I even blocked off the rear carb port and transmission modulator while I was chasing a rough idle in gear. I've checked for vacuum leaks and haven't found any.
